1938 Dress Officer's Uniform

In 1938, the Army once again made a major uniform change which was the first for the dress uniforms since 1902. The hats were a slightly modified version of the 1912 pattern visor cap. The coats were more like the regulation 4-pocket service jacket. There was cuff braid trimmed in the branch of the service added and shoulder straps were worn instead of the knots on the 1902 coats. The pants had a colored stripe down the outside of each leg in the color of the branch of service. Depending on the branch, the pants could be worn with boots or over low quarter shoes. The uniform included a bullion belt trimmed in the color of the branch of service. The uniform could be worn with full-size medals or ribbons. The 1902 Officer’s sword was authorized for wear.
